Many of the friend records are private records of Adrianne (Anna) Marie Vissers, a friend who Bethune took care of during her final years so that she could remain in her own home. (Records include financial, legal, and medical records, as well as personal materials.) Tenant materials include letters and rental documents between Bethune and her tenants at 42 Thames St. and 27 Prescott Hall Road, both in Newport, Rhode Island.
