About the Department of Apparel, Merchandising and Design
The Department of Apparel, Merchandising, and Design offers a Bachelor of Arts in the following categories: Apparel Design, Family and Consumer Science, Fashion Merchandising, and Interior Design. Also offered is a minor in Family and Consumer Science. The Department is part of the School of Business and Professional Studies. Graduates should be prepared in their specific field, designated by their major.The department officially started at the Department of Home Economics and Domestic Art in 1916, with the title being shortened in 1922 to the Department of Home Economics. In 1992 this was changed to the Department of Family, Consumer and Nutritional Sciences, which in 2013 was retitled the Department of Apparel, Merchandising, and Design.
