Scope and Contents
This collection dates from 1914-2011, and includes a variety of materials relating to the original Music Department, before it was combined with Theater. Administrative materials include accreditation studies, departmental reports, correspondence, curricular information, meeting minutes, and more. Brochures, posters, programs, publicity for performances, and photographs are also included. Significant events and performances, such as the 1967 performance of Love Songs for Sabbath, a Jewish and Catholic interfaith sacred work, are documented. The collection also includes an interview with a sister remembering her past music instructors at St. Kate’s from 1916 to 1922 as well as the configuration of the music department at that time.

While this series includes some programs and promotional material, additional programs and promotional material for ensembles can be found in the Programs and Publicity by Year series and in the Music and Theater Department Records series. Technically speaking, beginning in 2011 these ensembles were sponsored by the Music and Theater Department.
