About the Office of Continuing Education
The Office of Continuing Education was established in 1974 intending to make St. Kate’s accessible to students outside the traditional 18-22 age bracket. This department quickly grew providing access to courses and workshops for students. The department did throughout research on their students’ needs to provide them with the unique services to fit their diverse needs. Continuing Education students had different responsibilities as they were often juggling full time jobs, marriage, and on average two children. The program aimed to help students finish their degree or obtain their degree whether that would be their first or a second through a career change. For a time the department would also administer the Summer Sessions program. In 1992 the department was renamed to reflect the leadership initiatives and workshops that it offered along with courses for credit.
