Biographical / Historical

According to an article in the April 19, 1951 issue of The Catherine Wheel ("Choristers Make Album"): 'Perennial favorites of St. Catherine's alumnae and students will be among the numbers included in an album of records, to be available by May Fete Day. The recording was done by the C.S.C Choristers, a group comprised of the Liturgical Choir and the Choral Club. Sister Lucina directed the singing, and Sister Mary Davida provided organ music. This project has been under-taken by the Alumna a Association to raise money for the Building Fund. Price of the three-record album has been set at $4.50, tax included. Charge for mail orders is 50 cents extra. Two Gregorian Chants, "Salve Regina" and "Ave Verum" are in-cluded in the collection. Other records are "The College Song," with words and music by Sister Maris Stella; the "Hymn to St. Catherine," by Sister Alphonsine, "Pomp and Circumstance," traditional graduation march; "Jubilate Deo," by Singenberger; and Franck's. "Panis Angelicus." The last number features Pat Strain, junior, in a vocal solo, with a four-part chorus background.'
