Biographical / Historical
The Constitution, Bylaws, and Elections Committee reviews the constitution and bylaws to determine their relevance and proposed potential changes to the faculty council. It makes sure elections are timely and fair, nominates eligible candidates for vacancies, and advises the faculty council of options for special elections.
The Nominating Committee was established in 1958 to nominate candidates for each vacancy in committees. The Constitution Committee was also created in 1958 to determine who was eligible for nomination and voting in elections, and to distribute and count ballots, as well as alerting the president when policies deviated from the constitution. It was renamed the Election and Constitution Committee in 1967. In 2001 the Nominating Committee and the Election and Constitution Committee were consolidated into the Constitution and Election Committee, which in the 2013 constitution was renamed the Constitution, Bylaws, and Elections Committee.
