Contents

This collection includes materials pertaining to both the administrative and functional sides of the Tutoring and Learning Center and its predecessors: the Whitby Learning Centers (including the Reading/Writing Center and the Math Center, 1977-1985) and the O’Neill Center for Academic Development (1985-2023). Materials include publicity, such as brochures, clippings, flyers, and print-outs of web pages; administrative files, such as annual reports, assessment reports, correspondence, and meeting minutes; materials from workshops offered to students and faculty; and photographs.

The collection also features material related to Sarah O'Neill, CSJ, one of the early directors. The Center was named in Sister Sarah's memory through a dedication ceremony on April 25, 1985. Recognition of Sister Sarah's dedication to the work of the Center was reaffirmed during a rededication event ten years later.

In 2023, the name of this office was changed to the Tutoring and Learning Center with the intent of clarifying the types of academic support services offered: tutoring in writing, math, and science, and learning support available through online study skills resources, presentations, and appointments with staff members.
