About the Office of Campus Ministry

Campus Ministry was established at the College of St. Catherine in the Fall of 1974 by Fr. Thomas Hill and Fr. Gavin Brandt. Ministry was initially a few religious leaders on campus organizing events, speaking engagements and community outreach for students interested in discussing theology and volunteering for church projects in the surrounding area. Since its founding, Ministry has offered most of the religious services for students on campus, including organizing missions trips and celebrations for Eucharistic Day. Before ministry was established, the archbishop of the Catholic Church of Minnesota conversed to the college through the President’s office, the President being for some time the religious head of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet as well as school administrator. Individual chaplains were also appointed to serve as religious leaders for faculty, staff and students on campus.
