 Series — Multiple Containers

Contents:

The bulk of this collection concerns the Faculty Personnel Committee and Rank and Tenure Committee, the predecessors to the University Faculty Evaluation, Promotion, and Tenure Committee, though this balance will doubtlessly shift as time passes and new materials are produced. Materials consist mainly of meeting minutes, though correspondence, memos, and other general materials are included as well, dating from 1937 but most of the materials falling between 1960 and the present.

Biographical / Historical

The University Faculty Evaluation, Promotion, and Tenure Committee is in charge of keeping an eye on professional academics, both on and off campus, to set the expectations with which to measure one's record of teaching and peer-reviewed scholarship. It sets the standards for promotion and tenure for the university, and oversees faculty evaluation.

The Committee on Rank and Tenure was created in 1958 to review the rank and tenure of faculty members and make recommendations to the Department Chairs. The Faculty Personnel Committee took over from the Committee on Rank and Tenure in 1973, and evaluated faculty until 2013, when it was rechristened the University Faculty Evaluation, Promotion, and Tenure Committee.
