Biographical / Historical

The University Curriculum, Assessment, and Policies Committee has sixteen voting members. It is charged with monitoring the assessment, delivery, and creation of curriculum inside the university and throughout academics in general, in order to develop policies meant to help create effective curriculum.

The University Curriculum, Assessment, and Policies Committee was made from the joining of the Assessment Committee and the Educational Policies Committee in 2013. The Assessment Committee had the Committee on Institutional Research as its predecessor, which made experiments for the general benefit of the college and evaluated the results, and existed from 1958 to 1977. The Assessment Committee was created in 2000 to more generally arrange assessment throughout the university, and lasted until 2013. The Educational Policies Committee was created in the first constitution of the College of St. Catherine in 1953, and held its first meeting in 1954. It grew throughout its existence, going from nine members in 1953 to twenty-six in 2013, consolidating with such committees as the Welfare Committee and Honors Council in 1973 and incorporating the Curriculum Committee as a subcommittee in 2000. The Curriculum Committee was created in 1954 to consider the College of St. Catherine’s curriculum, a job handled earlier by the Teacher Personnel Committee. It did this until 2000, when it was converted into a subcommittee of the Educational Policies Committee.
