This collection documents May Sarton's enduring friendships with several Sisters of St. Joseph who were faculty or administrators at the College of St. Catherine (now St. Catherine University). Sarton was especially close to Sister Alice Gustava (Maris Stella) Smith, who was a member of the English faculty and herself an accomplished poet. The collection includes papers from the offices of the Academic Dean, Associate Academic Dean, Acting Academic Dean, and Acting Associate Academic Dean, as well as papers from the Vice President of Academic Affairs, which was the successor position to the Academic Dean. Papers include letters and memos sent both from the Office of Academic Dean and to it, reports, and studies of the college. Included are a few pictures of the Deans, and papers from conferences they attended.
